Time: 0900 – 1530hrs

Address: Hampshire Constabulary HQ, Hamble Lane, Hamble, Southampton SO31 4TS

Following recent update to the Home Office Statutory FGM guidance, this event supports the Home Office training to update, inform and support statutory partners with understanding current statutory duties, safeguarding and welfare responsibilities, FGM Protection Orders and Forced Marriage Protection Orders.

Forced Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation Orders are civil injunctions that offer a legal means to protect and safeguard both victims of, and potential victims of these harmful practices. The process to obtain an order is very simple, and their effects can have a significant positive impact on the life of the person to be protected.

This event aims to raise awareness of the scope and effectiveness of the orders, along with a practical guide to applying, with the aim of encouraging professionals to always consider them in any safeguarding plans.

This event is being delivered by the Home Office in partnership with Hampshire Constabulary with guest speaker DC Gill Squires MBE who is a Home Office leading UK authority on FGM and played a key role in the introduction of FGM Protection Orders which are now used by police forces to protect girls and women considered at risk of the barbaric procedure.
